Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 ripe bananas
- ½ cup raisins
- 2 cups flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- salt
- ¼ tsp. nutmeg
Cooking Directions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 3. Add the well-beaten egg and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture, stirring until combined.
- 4. Mash the ripe bananas in a separate bowl.
- 5. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- 6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the mashed bananas. Mix until just combined.
- 7. Fold in the raisins. The batter should drop easily off a spoon; if it is too thick, add a little milk to reach the desired consistency.
- 8. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
- 9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until the bread is golden brown and a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean, about 60 minutes.
- 10. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
