- Sift all the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, add water to the wet sugar and stir until well combined.
- Add this mixture, along with the margarine, to the dry ingredients and bind to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough for a few minutes on a lightly floured board.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch and cut into 3 1/2 inch rounds.
- Place the rounds on a greased and floured baking tray.
- Bake on the top shelf of the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
- If desired, brush the bullas with melted margarine 5 minutes before removing them from the oven.
