1. Roast the breadfruit whole over charcoal (preferred) or directly on a gas burner.
2. Turn the fruit periodically as it begins to char; continue roasting for approximately one hour.
3. When steam starts escaping from the stem end, the breadfruit is ready.
4. Remove the breadfruit from the heat and cut a circle around the stem end.
5. Scoop out and discard the central core (heart).
6. Peel away the charred outer skin and slice the breadfruit.
7. Serve hot and enjoy the natural, smoky flavors.
