Authentic Jamaican Sorrel Drink

Ingredients
- 1 pound of fresh sorrel
- 2–4 oz grated ginger
- 2 quarts of water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 8–12 pimento grains
- Optional: Jamaican rum
- Optional: A splash of wine
Directions
- Wash the sorrel thoroughly, lifting it gently from the water.
- Place the cleaned sorrel in a stainless steel container.
- Peel, wash, and grate the ginger before adding it to the sorrel.
- Add the pimento grains.
- Boil water and pour it over the mixture.
- Allow the mixture to steep for 4–6 hours.
- Strain the liquid carefully to remove solids.
- Sweeten to taste and add rum if desired. Optionally stir in wine.
- Serve chilled over ice.
